In the first half of 2019, the foreign trade turnover of services with the countries of the world amounted to $ 196.6 mln and had a negative balance of $ 68.7 mln.

Exports of services from Dnipropetrovsk region to the countries of the world in the first half of 2019 amounted to $ 64 mln (1.1% of the all-Ukrainian figure), which compared to the corresponding period of the last year decreased by 6.7% ($ 4.6 mln). It should be noted that exports to the EU countries increased by 16% compared to the same period last year and amounted to almost half of the total exports of services of the region ($ 31.6 mln). Export operations to the countries of the world were carried out by the enterprises from such cities of the region as: Dnipro 89.7% ($57.4 mln), Kryvyi Rih 5.6% ($3.6 mln), Kamianske 1.3% ($855.9 thousd) and Dniprovskyi district 1.8% ($1.1 mln). It also exported services from Zhovti Vody, Pavlohrad, Nikopol, Novomoskovsk and Pershotravensk.

The region was the largest exporter of computer services $ 26.2 mln (41.0% of total exports volume), transportation services $ 16.8 million (26.3%), business services $ 8.5 million (13.3%) and travel services $ 5.9 mln (9.3%).

In the first half of 2019, exports of services increased significantly in the following areas:

• maritime transport services – increased by 4 times and amounted to $ 539.7 thousd.;
• construction services – by 12 times and amounted to $ 633 thousd.;
• services related to financial activities – by 3 times and amounted to $ 1,578.3 thousd.;
• royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property – by  4 times and amounted to $ 333.5 thousd.;
• professional and consulting services – by 1,5 times and amounted to $ 1169,1 thousd.;
• scientific and technical services – by 1.6 times and amounted to $ 2637.9 thousd.

Top 5 countries in the world of consumers of services of the region:

• USA – $ 14.3 mln, an increase of 25.8% compared to the first half of the last year;
• The Russian Federation – $ 7.6 mln and decreased by 53.6%;
• Cyprus – $ 7.0 mln, an increase of 16.1%;
• Denmark – $ 4.4 million, an increase of 12%;
• United Kingdom – $ 3.6 mln, an increase of 11%.

The volume of exported services from Dnipropetrovsk region to the following countries increased significantly:

• Bulgaria – increased by 7 times and amounted to $ 415.3 thousd.;
• Georgia – by 3,2 times and made $ 84,3 thousd.;
• Estonia – by 3 times and amounted to $ 779.5 thousd.;
• Latvia – by 3 times and amounted to $ 413.8 thousd.;
• Lithuanian – 2,9 times and amounted to $ 1148,0 thousd.

Imports of services from the countries of the world to Dnipropetrovsk region increased by 17.4% compared to the corresponding period of the last year and amounted to $ 132.6 mln, which is 4.5% of the all-Ukrainian indicator. Imports from EU countries remained almost at the same level compared to the corresponding period of 2018, amounted to 67.2% of the region’s total imports ($ 89.2 mln).

The largest amount of foreign services were provided to the city of Dnipro – $ 68.9 mln (51.9% of the total import of services of the region). 38% of services import falls on Kryvyi Rih – $ 50.4 mln. Dniprovskyi district received services import for $ 7.3 mln (5.5%). Also, imports of services were carried out by Kamianske, Nikopol, Verkhnodniprovskyi, Synelnykivskyi and Solonianskyi districts imported services.

Dnipropetrovsk region mostly purchased:

• royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property (franchise) – $ 45.9 mln, imports increased by 8.5% compared to the corresponding period of the last year and amounted to 34.6% of the total volume of imports;
• $ 43.4 million in business services, which also increased by 33.8% and amounted to 32.7%;
• transportation services by $ 18.9 mln, imports decreased by 15.4% and amounted to 14.2% of the total volume of imports of the region.

Imports increased significantly by the following items:

• air transport services – $ 289.7 thousd., increased by 3 times;
• construction services – $ 586.6 thousd., increased by 2.8 times;
• services related to financial activities – $ 7709,8 thousd., increased by 2.4 times;
• information services – $ 1,273.1 thousd, increased by 2.1 times.

The USA is the leader among the countries of the world services of which were imported by Dnipropetrovsk region, imports increased by 4.5 times compared to the first half of 2018 and amounted to $ 29.0 mln. Cyprus is on the second place, imports from which increased by 50.6% and amounted to $ 15.2 mln. Germany ranks third, imports increased by 17.3% and amounted to $ 7.8 mln. Switzerland ranks fourth, imports increased by 25% and amounted to $ 4 mln, Latvia ranks fifth, imports increased more than double and amounted to $ 3.6 mln.
