The foreign trade turnover of services in 2020 amounted to $391.6 million (2.4% of the total volume of Ukraine). The negative balance of services foreign trade amounted to $40.8 mln, but compared to last year it decreased by 2.2 times. The export coverage ratio of imports was 0.8 (in 2019 – 0.6).
Export of services from Dnipropetrovsk region to the world’s countries in 2020 amounted to $175.4 mln (1.6% out of Ukraine’s export volume) and despite the pandemic increased by 6.4% compared to last year.
By types of economic activity, the IT sector is the leader in exports ($67.9 mln) with a share of 38.7%. Transport services export with a share of 29.2% and an increase by 21.7% over the previous period, and amounted to $51.2 mln. Business services is in third place – $22.2 mln (12.7%), which increased by 18%.
Exports of services to individuals, cultural and recreational services grew the most dynamically by 21.6 times ($6 mln). Ancillary and additional transport services increased by 8 times and amounted to $12.3 mln. Royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property increased by 2 times and amounted to $1.2 mln.
The leader among buyers of Ukrainian services is the United States ($36 mln), exports increased by 5.8% compared to last year. The second largest exporter of services is Cyprus – $14.7 mln, trade with which increased by 6% compared to last year. Russian Federation is in the third place – $14 mln with a decrease by 11%.
The volume of services exports has significantly increased to the following countries: Switzerland, Poland, Uzbekistan.
Import of services to Dnipropetrovsk region from the world’s countries amounted to $216.2 mln (4.2% out of Ukraine’s import) and decreased by 15.4% compared to 2019.
The largest volume of services import (34.3%) falls on transport services. Import of these services increased by 55% amounted to $74.2 mln. Franchise acquisition and use of intellectual property amounted to $53.8 mln (24.9%) and decreased by 37.8% compared to last year. Business services amounted to $31.5 mln (14.6%). It is worth noting that imports of these services decreased by 50%.
Most of all, services were imported from Luxembourg – $50.9 mln, import of which decreased by 33.4%. In second place there is the import of services from Germany – $39.5 mln, with a increase by 79% compared to last year. Import from the USA decreased by 61% and amounted to $13.7 mln.
Import of services more than doubled from Uzbekistan, India, China, Poland, Moldova, Turkey and Sweden.
Foreign trade operations in the service sector were carried out by enterprises of the Dnipropetrovsk region with partners from 130 countries.
