Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Albania has been actively supporting Ukrainians by providing military and humanitarian aid. The Republic of Albania condemns in the strongest terms russia’s unprovoked, unjustified and illegal full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine, and is unwavering in its support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Albania has made significant military contributions to Ukraine, both bilaterally and in multilateral formats, and will continue to address Ukraine’s most urgent and immediate needs to strengthen its security capabilities.
The Republic of Albania supported the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine of July 12, 2023, approved by the Group of Seven countries and the EU on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, as well as the Ukraine Treaty presented and approved on July 11, 2024, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington, District of Columbia.
In January 2025, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama signed a 10-year agreement on long-term cooperation and support. This agreement provides for the continuation of Albania’s military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine throughout the ten-year period.
The two countries also agreed to deepen defense and industrial cooperation, including joint production with localization in Ukraine. Albania will look for all possible ways to provide further security and defense support, focusing on Ukraine’s most pressing needs and contributing to its interoperability with Euro-Atlantic partners.
At the same time, Tirana will contribute to the coalition of fighter jets by providing English language training for Ukrainian pilots and technicians. In addition, it will facilitate training of the Ukrainian military in multilateral formats and implement train-the-trainer programs.
Albania supports the restoration, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine, in particular in the areas of green energy transition, digitalization, telecommunications, energy efficiency, technical assistance, education and knowledge exchange, public finance management and central banking, waste management, water treatment, environmental restoration, construction, planning and infrastructure using innovative and gender-sensitive approaches.
In 2023, Ukraine and Albania significantly strengthened their foreign economic cooperation, increasing foreign trade by 18% compared to 2022. Albanian companies are most interested in agricultural products: fats and vegetable oil, cereals, meat and dairy products. Ukrainian companies buy electrical machinery, ferrous metal products, vegetables, nuts, and edible fruits.
The development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation also remains an important priority for Dnipropetrovsk region. Despite the small volume of foreign trade with the Republic of Albania, this country is a perspective trading partner of the region.
Imports of goods from Albania to Dnipropetrovsk region increased by 2.2 times compared to 2022 and amounted to $1.2 million. 10 importing companies in the region bought Albanian goods the most, namely: various chemical products, edible fruits and nuts, vegetables, ferrous metals, etc.

Import operations were mainly carried out by metallurgical, trade, food and processing companies.
Albanian enterprises buy glass and glass products, soap and detergents, plastics and polymeric materials, etc. The volume of exports of goods from Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to $191.1 thousand and increased by 94% compared to 2022.
