EIB Allocates €100 Million to Strengthen Ukraine’s Economy and District Heating

Of this amount, €70 million will be channelled through Ukrgasbank to finance small and medium-sized enterprises, preserve jobs, and develop energy efficiency projects. Another €30 million — via Ukrgasbank and Ukreximbank — will be used to repair and modernize municipal heating systems to ensure reliable heat supply for communities during the winter.

The financing is provided under the EU for Ukraine Fund and the Ukraine Investment Framework, both part of the €50 billion EU Ukraine Facility. This initiative reflects the European Union’s ongoing commitment to Ukraine’s recovery and the strengthening of its energy security.

The funding will enhance the resilience of Ukrainian businesses and municipal infrastructure, support the restoration of damaged facilities, and reduce dependence on vulnerable centralized heating systems.

Representatives of the EIB and the European Commission emphasized that this assistance is particularly vital amid Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and will help local communities endure another winter with reliable heating and functioning enterprises.
