In July, Ukraine’s steel companies exported 113.2 thousand tonnes of flat steel products, up 6.6% year-on-year and 13% month-on-month.
Shipments of hot-rolled flat steel amounted to 87.9 thousand tonnes (+4.7% y/y; +19.8% m/m), whilst those of cold-rolled flat steel stood at 14.6 thousand tonnes (-19% y/y; –23% month-on-month), and coated flat products – 10.7 thousand tonnes (+157% year-on-year; +44% month-on-month).
Overall, for the period January–July 2026, Ukrainian steel companies reduced their exports of flat steel products by 6.5% compared with the same period in 2025, to 1 million tonnes.
Flat hot-rolled steel (HS Code 7208) accounted for over 79.6% of exports over the seven-month period — 723.7 thousand tonnes, down 10.5% year-on-year. The main consumers of the product during the period were Poland — 316.6 thousand tonnes, Bulgaria — 122.2 thousand tonnes and Romania — 75.1 thousand tonnes.
A further 15.2% of shipments, or 137.9 thousand tonnes (+6.6% year-on-year), during the period in question consisted of flat cold-rolled steel (HS Code 7209). The main consumer of these products is Poland, accounting for 71.6 thousand tonnes. A further 19.4 thousand tonnes were exported to Bulgaria and 12.2 thousand tonnes to Egypt.
Over a seven-month period, Ukraine exported 45.7 thousand tonnes of coated flat-rolled products (HS Code 7210), representing a year-on-year increase of 36.9%. 37.5 thousand tonnes of these products were shipped to Poland, and 3.8 thousand tonnes to Romania.
Revenue from flat steel exports for the period January–July rose by 2% year-on-year – to $568.7 million, whilst in July it increased by 18% year-on-year and 14% month-on-month – to $78.3 million.
In 2025 Ukraine increased its exports of flat-rolled steel by 11.2% compared with 2024 — to 1.82 million tonnes. Over 82% of exports consisted of hot-rolled flat steel (HS code 7208) — 1.51 million tonnes, up 10.5% year-on-year. Revenue from flat steel exports for the year rose by 3.9% year-on-year, to $1.05 billion.
