CZ Loko has sent to Ukraine the first of four locomotives for «ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih» S.A.

The Czech company CZ Loko, one of the leading railway engineering enterprises in Central Europe, has sent to Ukraine the first of four shunting and mainline locomotives EffiShunter 1600 for «ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih» S.A. (AMKR).

The locomotives are optimized for shunting and heavy work in industrial branches, in particular in the metallurgical and mining industries, and are also equipped with a 1550 kW Caterpillar diesel engine and a Siemens traction generator. They are equipped with a digital control system, cruise control, electrodynamic brakes and anti-slip (when pulling) as well.

«The locomotives were accompanied by two platforms with carts. CZ Loko explained that these are bogies of a wide gauge, which will be replaced at the Haniska station, which is near Kosice, Slovakia (from Haniska to Uzhhorod, a 1520 mm track has been laid)», – the message says.

The bogies will be replaced due to the fact that, initially, bogies for a track gauge of 1435 mm were installed on locomotives for testing, including so that they could be tested at a test site in the Czech Republic.

The Finnish company Fenniarail will also receive its own locomotive.

It should be noted that AMKR became the second (after Fenniarail) customer of locomotives of this type for 1520 mm gauge. The first locomotive, after testing, went to Ukraine, and the other three are in production.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih ordered four locomotives for €9 million from the Czech company CZ Loko back in August 2019. The purchase of new diesel locomotives, their modernization, as well as repairs, will allow the company to build up an efficient railway fleet.
