Exports in the services sector from Dnipropetrovsk region to the world’s countries in the 1st quarter of 2020 amounted to $42.2 mln (1.5% of the export volume of Ukraine) and increased by 32.4% compared to the same period of the last year. Imports decreased by 1.9% and amounted to $48.8 mln (3.5% of the import volume of Ukraine). The EU share in the import of services to Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to 74.1%. The negative balance of foreign trade in services amounted to $6.6 million. The increase in exports led to a decrease in the negative balance by 2.5 times.
IT services were exported most of all by $15.6 mln and increased by 19% compared to the corresponding period of 2019. Exports of transport services increased by 48% and amounted to $11.4 mln. The third place in the structure of exports is occupied by business services – $5.2 mln and their volume increased by 5.6% compared to the same period of the last year.
It should be noted that exports of construction services increased by 5.5 times compared to the corresponding period and amounted to $0.6 mln. Exports of information services increased by 4.2 times and amounted to $2.2 mln. Exports of trade-related services increased by 2.5 times and amounted to $0.4 mln.
Transport services were imported the most. Imports of which increased by 86% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to $19.7 mln. The second place in the structure of imports is occupied by business services – $10 mln. Imports of these services increased by 11.1%. Imports of services related to financial activities increased by 2.5 times and amounted to $8.1 mln.
It should be noted that the import of construction services increased by 15.7 times compared to the corresponding period of 2019 and amounted to $0.4 mln. The import dynamics of railway transport services has a positive growth trend. Imports of these services increased almost by 5 times in the corresponding period of 2019 and amounted to $14 mln. Imports of scientific and technical services increased by 3.5 times and amounted to $8.1 mln.
The leader among the buyers of Ukrainian services was the USA, exports of which increased by 40.5% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to $9.4 mln. The second place is occupied by Cyprus – $3.6 million, export volume decreased by 16% compared to the same period of the last year. Germany is in third place in terms of services exports – $2.96 million and increased by 84% compared to the same period of the last year. The volume of services exports to the UAE, Romania, Turkey, Estonia, Georgia and Poland has increased significantly.
The largest number of services were imported from Germany – $12.31 mln, and compared to the same period of the last year, their volume increased by 2.5 times. The second place was occupied by the import of services from Latvia – $4.7 mln, while imports also increased by 2.3 times compared to the same period of the last year. Import of services from Italy is in the third place and increased by 5.3 times and amounted to $4.5 mln. Imports of services from Turkey, Great Britain, Georgia, Estonia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Belarus, China, Poland, UAE and the USA have increased significantly.
