Ukraine exported snails for $3.6 million

In the period of January-July 2024, Ukraine exported 50.4% more shellfish than in the same period last year: 704 tonnes. According to the State Customs Service.

In monetary terms, sales of shellfish to foreign markets during the first seven months of this year increased revenue by a third to $3.6 million.

The main buyers of domestic shellfish in the first seven months of 2024 were Lithuania (59%), Spain (21.3%) and Poland (8%).

Imports of shellfish also increased by 10.7% in seven months of 2024 and reached 3.1 thousand tonnes.

In monetary terms, $11.2 million was spent on shellfish imports, which is 27.3% more than in January-July 2023.

The largest suppliers of shellfish to the Ukrainian market in the first seven months of this year were China (33.3%), France (17.2%) and Chile (16.8%).
