Cooperation between Dnipropetrovsk region and Denmark

The Kingdom of Denmark has been helping Ukraine since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of our land, providing political, financial, humanitarian and defense assistance. Denmark actively supports EU sanctions against the Russian Federation and expelled 15 Russian diplomats from the country because of their espionage activities on the territory of the kingdom.

Thousands of Danes gather every week in front of the Russian embassy in Copenhagen with the slogans “Ukrainians, we are with you!”, “Russia is killing Ukrainians!”, “Europe is on the brink of nuclear war.” Politicians and public figures speak.

The charity organization of Ukrainians in Denmark “Bevar Ukraine” sent Ukraine three vehicles of humanitarian aid. It is worth adding that the volunteer union “Bevar Ukraine” has been helping compatriots since 2014, regularly sending medical and humanitarian goods to different parts of Ukraine.

Denmark launched a grant program to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs during the war. It is about the allocation of financial assistance of up to €15,000 for entrepreneurs who are forced to evacuate their business to another region of Ukraine or need to restore production capacity. The size of the grant payment will depend on the number of jobs for the enterprise, created or restored, saved for workers.

During her visit to Ukraine, the Danish Prime Minister assured that Denmark and Ukraine are friends for a long time. And the country will take the lead in rebuilding Mykolaiv, which is suffering from shelling by the Russian military. Also, Denmark will provide the city with the necessary equipment for priority infrastructure restoration, including excavators, dump trucks and loaders.

The total aid that Denmark has provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war will amount to about 3 billion Danish kroner (€400 million). A little more than half of the announced financial assistance will be spent on the purchase of weapons and supporting the production of weapons. The rest will be spent on the supply of Danish weapons and military equipment, as well as on the training of the Ukrainian military. Denmark handed over 120-mm mines “BGR M/50” to Ukraine. Although originally used for the “Brandt M/50” mortars, they can be fired from any 120mm platform. In addition, Danish M113G4DKs have already entered service with the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian M113G4DK was armed with a 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun. Also, the Ukrainian military will receive uniforms and winter clothes from Denmark.

Danish military instructors will join the training of the Ukrainian military in Great Britain. 130 Danish military personnel will share their experience with Ukrainians. In addition, the Ukrainians will also train on Danish territory. In 2022, 100 million Danish kroner will be allocated to support the training of the Ukrainian military.

During the Conference of Northern European Allies in Support of Ukraine, which was held in Copenhagen on August 11, more than €1.5 billion was collected. More than 20 countries participated in the conference at the level of defense ministers. Delegations are represented by heads of defense agencies, deputies or other high-ranking representatives.

In order to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine in the conditions of a war with Russia, and in a more distant perspective to strengthen the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine, the State Concern “Ukroboronprom” and the Danish Defense and Security Industries Association (DI Defense and Security Industries Association) concluded a cooperation agreement.
