The EU’s most powerful terminal for transshipment of grain from Ukraine has been launched

Romanian private rail freight company Grampet Group opened a newly built grain transshipment terminal near the border with Ukraine a few days ago.

The terminal is located in the city of Dornesti and will improve the connection with the port of Constanta, USM reports.

It is noted that to facilitate transshipment, the terminal uses equipment similar to river and sea ports in Romania.

As a reminder, the new terminal was built in early April 2024. The annual grain transit capacity reaches 3 million tons. The company is equipped with a railcar loading station (128 m long) and an unloading station (120 m long), which allow it to handle 8 railcars at a time.

The cost of the infrastructure is estimated at €10 million.

Earlier, the company stated that it is the largest transshipment terminal for agricultural products in Europe.
