International partnership today is an investment in resilience of Ukraine

An online meeting organised by the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities was held. During this meeting the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk, presented the current situation in Dnipropetrovsk region, its economic and investment potential.

The Kingdom of Norway is one of the countries that not only helps Ukraine on the frontline, but also plays an active role in consolidating the efforts of European countries to support Ukrainian independence.

“Ukrainian Association of District And Regional Councils, regional councils and our communities were the first to join in forming partnerships with Norwegian municipalities and counties. Dnipropetrovsk region continues to be a strong region in humanitarian, medical and educational sphere. A total of 37 municipalities and 5 regional councils in Norway are already cooperating with Ukraine, and 16 have signed official agreements with Ukrainian communities. In Dnipropetrovsk region, Kryvyi Rih already has a partnership with the Norwegian municipality of Linddal. The Trøndelag county has also expressed its readiness to start a dialogue with Dnipropetrovsk region,” said Mykola Lukashuk.

Norway is an important trading partner for Ukraine. Dnipropetrovsk region is one of the key regions shaping these economic ties.

In 2024, exports from Dnipropetrovsk region to Norway amounted to $3 million, which corresponds to 8.5% of total exports of Ukraine to this country. The main exports are ferrous metal products (46.6%), parts for railway locomotives (44.4%), ships, vegetable oils and grain products.

Imports from Norway to Dnipropetrovsk region reached $43.9 million or 10.5% of  total imports of Ukraine from Norway. The main import items are fish and seafood (83.8%), ferrous metals (7.6%), machinery and equipment (3.3%), meat and fish products, land transport vehicles.

The Norwegian private enterprise “Caddy Soft”, specializing in IT consulting, operates in the region, which indicates the interest of Norwegian business in the development of digital technologies in Ukraine and strengthening business ties between the countries.

During the full-scale invasion, Norway provided the region with significant assistance worth over $500,000, including vehicles for various purposes, demining suits, tents and specialized firefighting equipment The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, which significantly increases the ability to respond to emergencies, makes it easier to rescue people and extinguish fires in high-rise buildings.

We invite Norwegian counties, municipalities and companies to cooperate in reconstruction of medicine, education, energy and critical infrastructure.
