ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC has successfully passed a surveillance audit of its environmental management system for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2015. This was reported by the corporate newspaper *Metallurg*.
The company began the ISO 14001 certification process back in 2007. Since then, the environmental management system at the steelworks has been functioning at the required level and is constantly being improved. AMKR undergoes recertification every three years, with two surveillance audits in between.
The entire production chain was involved in the audit. For example, in the Mining Department, the auditors visited the Ore Management Division; at the Coking Plant—Coking Shop No. 1; in the Energy Department—the oxygen production facility; and in the Rolling Department—SPC-2. Additionally, they worked at the sintering plant and the first blast furnace shop. In the Quality Department, the auditors visited the environmental control laboratory and the metrology center; in the Human Resources Department, they visited the training and personnel development department. Throughout the audit, the audit firm’s specialists worked closely with employees of the company’s Environmental Protection Department.
The auditors reviewed compliance with legal requirements regarding the reduction of the company’s environmental impact. Their primary focus was on the technical condition of environmental protection equipment—specifically, all gas treatment facilities. They also assessed the level of awareness among the company’s staff regarding environmental issues and the environmental management system as a whole.
The audit also noted annual environmental measures, such as watering roads at production sites and on city streets bordering the plant. Additionally, when conducting production blasting, the plant implements dust suppression measures, which are already part of the technological process in preparation for such work. The company also conducts educational environmental protection activities at various educational institutions in the city and region.
He added that AMKR will continue to work on the development, control, and improvement of internal processes by implementing modern management solutions.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih paid 8.5 billion UAH in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels in 2025, which is nearly 28% more than in 2024.
