Dnipropetrovsk region leads in goods export / import among regions of Ukraine

Foreign trade turnover of goods with the countries of the world over 9 months of 2019 amounted to $ 10.5 bln and had a surplus of $ 2097.3 mln.

Export of goods from Dnipropetrovsk region to the countries of the world over 9 months of 2019 amounted to $ 6.3 bln, which increased by almost 9% compared to the same period of the last year. Dnipropetrovsk region companies carried out 17% of Ukraine’s export operations, which provide the region with a leading position among the regions of Ukraine in terms of exports.

The region exported the most:

  • ferrous metals and their products, exports amounted to $3,200.4 mln (50.8% of total exports),
  • ores exported by $1,850.7 mln (29.4%),
  • railway wagons, trams by $226.3 mln (3.6%),
  • fats and oils by $216 mln(3.4%).

Over 9 months of 2019, significantly increased the exports volume of such products:

  • fish and crustaceans – by almost 3 times and amounted to $ 417.5 thousd;
  • fertilizers – by 3 times and amounted to $73.7 mln;
  • railway wagons and trams – almost doubled and amounted to $ 2.3 mln.

For some goods, exports decreased significantly compared to the same period last year:

  • milk and dairy products; poultry eggs – by 63.5% and amounted to $ 3.2 mln;
  • flour and cereals industry products – by 41% and amounted to $ 3.8 mln;
  • organic chemicals – by 61.7% and amounted to $ 2.2 mln;
  • cotton – by 51.9% and amounted to $ 22.3 thousd;
  • cardboard and paper – by 44.9% and amounted to $ 25.4 mln.

China became the leader among consumers Ukrainian of goods. The second place among the world consumers of the region’s products was taken by Poland, where exports decreased by 6.3% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to $ 505.1 mln. Russia took the third place, exports to which amounted to $ 395.1 mln and remained almost at the level of the corresponding period of 2018.

Countries which significantly increased supplies of products from Dnipropetrovsk region:

  • Japan – export of goods increased by 9.5 times and amounted to $ 35.2 mln;
  • Indonesia – export of goods increased by almost 6 times and amounted to $ 118.3 mln;
  • Nigeria – export of goods increased by more than 4 times and amounted to $ 43.4 mln;
  • Korea – export of goods increased by almost 3 times and amounted to $8.2 mln.

Imports of goods to Dnipropetrovsk region increased by 9% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to $ 4.2 bln, which is 9.5% of the total Ukrainian figure.

Dnipropetrovsk region bought most of all:

  • mineral products by $ 1167.3 mln, imports of which decreased by 7% compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to about a third of the total imports of the region;
  • machinery and equipment by $ 719.7 mln, imports of which increased by 39.1% compared to the corresponding period and accounted for more than 17% of the total imports of the region;
  • ferrous metals and their products by $ 520.8 mln, imports of which also increased by 10.6% and accounted for 12.4% of the total imports of the region;
  • chemical products by $ 490.4 mln, imports of which increased by almost 10% and accounted for 11.7% of the total imports of the region;
  • polymeric materials by $ 313.4 mln, imports remained at almost the level of 7.6% of the region’s total import.

On the following commodity items of import from the countries of the world there was a considerable increase in scope of delivery of products on the Dnipropetrovsk region market:

  • milk and dairy products; poultry eggs – imports amounted to $ 17.6 mln, almost doubled;
  • electric machinery – imports amounted to $ 293.6 mln and almost doubled;
  • clothing and clothing textile accessories – imports amounted to $ 3 mln and increased 2.4 times.

Russian Federation is the leader among the importers, imports from which remained at the level of the corresponding period of 2018 and amounted to $ 965.4 mln. China ranks second in the goods import, which increased by 40% compared to the corresponding period of the last and amounted to $ 804.3 mln. Germany ranks third among world importers, imports from which increased by 6.3% and amounted to $ 274.5 mln.

TOP 5 countries which significantly increased scope of products deliveries from Dnipropetrovsk region:

  • Luxembourg – almost by 12 times, the volume of imports amounted to $ 4.1 thousd;
  • Jordan – almost by7 times, the volume of import amounted to $ 172.1 thousd;
  • Australia – almost by 6 times, the volume of import amounted to $ 16.3 mln;
  • Egypt – by 5.4 times, the volume of imports amounted to $ 5.5 mln;
  • Georgia almost doubled its import volume to $13.2 mln.

Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 158 countries.
