Chișinău consistently supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemns Russian aggression. European integration is a shared strategic priority of our states. It opens up opportunities for coordinating reforms, developing transport and energy infrastructure and deepening economic cooperation.
The Republic of Moldova continues to support Ukraine amid the full-scale Russian aggression: it provides humanitarian aid, hosts Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes, and develops bilateral cooperation. Despite limited economic resources and its own security challenges, Moldova helps restore energy infrastructure, supplies emergency and rescue equipment, and supports the population.
In 2026, Moldovan assistance gained particular significance against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system. On 4 February, the Government of Moldova adopted a decision on a new humanitarian aid package from state and mobilisation reserves. It provided for the transfer of generators, transformers, cables and conductors, medical equipment, special-purpose vehicles and essential items. On 10 February 2026, a government convoy delivered aid worth almost €700,000 to Kyiv: five fire and rescue vehicles, mobile power stations with diesel generators, emergency medical equipment, food and essential items. The aid was directed to support emergency and rescue services, hospitals and critical infrastructure facilities.
Civil society and business also joined the assistance effort. From 29 January to 13 February 2026, the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova, in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, held the charity campaign “Warmth for Ukraine.” As a result, 17 generators of various capacities were handed over to Ukraine, seven of which were provided by the Moldova Fruct association. The recipients were the State Institution “Centre of Maternity and Childhood of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” and the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Practical cooperation in cross-border connectivity is also developing. On 10 February 2026, during a working visit of the Prime Minister of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu to Kyiv, the parties signed a protocol on the establishment of the round-the-clock Cosăuți – Yampil road border crossing point for passenger and freight traffic and on the construction of a bridge across the Dniester. The border crossing point will begin operating once the construction of the infrastructure is completed. Munteanu also confirmed Moldova’s readiness to join the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular in the areas of transport infrastructure, energy, cyber resilience and security.
