The volume of cargo transportation along the Dnieper river increased by 19.1% in 2019

The volume of main cargoes transportation (grain, metal and oil products, construction materials and other cargoes) along the Dnieper River in 2019 increased by 19.1% compared to 2018 up to 11.8 mln tons.

About this writes the publication Ports of Ukraine with reference to the data of the River Information Service of Waterways of Ukraine (UkrRIS).

In particular, the volume of grain cargo transportation increased by 54.3%  up to 4.9 mln tons, metal products – by 32.9%, to 1.7 mln tons. The transportation volume of building materials and other goods decreased by 3.9% – up to 5.2 mln tons, oil products – by 45.9%, up to 37.4 thousand tons. No containers were transported (75 containers were transported in January-December 2018).

The number of navigations along the Dnieper River decreased by 26.9%, or by 4,407 navigations – to 11,983 navigations.

In January 2020, the volume of main cargoes transportation along the Dnieper River increased by 6.4 times compared to the same period last year, up to 390.8 mln tons.

The volume of transportation of grain cargo grew 3.9 times – up to 208 thousand tons, construction materials and other goods – 33 times, up to 161.7 thousand tons, metal products – 7.8 times, up to 21.1 thousand tons.

The number of navigations along the Dnieper River increased by 8.3 times, or by 298 navigations – up to 339 navigations.
