Supporting the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the international model of regional recovery, the Czech Republic is developing cooperation with Dnipropetrovsk region. The Czech Republic was one of the first EU countries to respond to the war in Ukraine, providing comprehensive support in the humanitarian, economic and military spheres. In 2024, it is planned to deepen cooperation between the region and the Czech Republic, primarily in the following priority areas: healthcare, water supply and sewerage, education, and economic cooperation.
In order to introduce effective, bilateral mechanisms for such cooperation, on January 18, 2024, Valentyna Zatyshniak, Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Investment Agency (DIA), met with Ladislav Horak, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine, who visited DIA for the second time. During the friendly dialogue, the parties discussed a perspective action plan for 2024, which covers priority areas of international cooperation, support mechanisms and donor engagement for the implementation of recovery projects in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In addition, the participants of the meeting noted the section “Recovery Projects” on the Investment Portal of Dnipropetrovsk region, which was introduced by DIA, which focuses on proposals and initiatives of local communities, medical institutions, water utilities of the region aimed at attracting international assistance for reconstruction, recovery, implementation of energy efficiency measures and energy decentralisation. This section is constantly updated and supplemented with new proposals. The relevance of this information is evidenced by its active use by the Czech side, both when studying the region and attracting international donors and businesses to the region.
This year, the Czech Republic plans to launch a series of communication events in the priority areas of cooperation. The first such event will take place in February 2024 and will be dedicated to deepening economic cooperation between two countries. Information on participation in the event will be posted on the DIA Investment Portal next week.
