Supporting communities: Dnipropetrovsk region expands cooperation with polish partners

Dnipropetrovsk Investment Agency (DIA) had the opportunity to participate in a meeting with representatives of Polish Humanitarian Action (PHA) and the Relief Coordination Centre as part of a delegation led by Mykola Lukashuk, Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.

Polish Humanitarian Action is Poland’s largest humanitarian organisation operating in Ukraine. PAH has been assisting people affected by the war since 2014 and significantly expanded the scale of its assistance and cooperation with local organisations following the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.

The Relief Coordination Centre, represented in the region by Yuliia Holovinova, assists with evacuations, supports internally displaced persons and coordinates the activities of humanitarian organisations.

Dnipropetrovsk Region, together with PHA, is working on a pilot project to support local initiatives aimed at restoring community economies. Fourteen communities located at least 50 kilometres from the front line will be selected to participate. Specialists will work with the communities to identify their needs and opportunities for local economic recovery. A corresponding strategy will be developed for each community. Subsequently, through a competitive mini-grant programme, the partners will fund small and medium-sized business projects aligned with the identified priorities.

The joint project will help communities identify their priorities and implement practical solutions to restore their local economies.

Priority areas of cooperation were also discussed separately, including the establishment of Points of Invincibility, the provision of alternative power sources and the construction and equipping of shelters.

We thank the team of the Dnipro office for their cooperation and assistance to our communities.
