A set of projects for participation in the European Digital Connectivity Awards 2025

The European Commission is inviting applications for the European Digital Connectivity Awards 2025, an award that celebrates projects that contribute to the digital transformation goals in the field of digital connectivity. The initiative aims to recognize and promote innovative projects that contribute to the development of high-speed, secure and sustainable digital infrastructure in Europe, bridge the digital divide and enable cross-border interoperability.

For whom?

Any projects at an advanced stage of implementation can apply for the award, regardless of their scale (large or small), geography (urban or rural), format (private or public), level of implementation (local, regional, national or international) and the technologies they use.

Projects can be submitted in one of three categories:

1. Excellence and Innovation in Gigabit Infrastructure Deployment – for projects implementing high-speed networks: FTTH (fiber to the home), 5G FWA/mobile, satellite technologies. Special attention will be paid to projects combining connectivity with other digital infrastructures: cloud solutions, IoT, AI, Edge Computing, 3C, etc. The category promotes technological innovation, readiness for current and future connectivity requirements in combination with other digital infrastructures and technologies, facilitating new business models for telecommunications operators.

2. Leaders in Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural and Remote Regions – for initiatives that successfully provide digital infrastructure in geographically challenging, sparsely populated or remote areas. The category celebrates efforts to ensure digital connectivity for all, overcoming one of the biggest challenges in broadband deployment.

3. Cross-border and international connectivity – for projects deploying digital connectivity networks between EU countries or between the EU and other countries. Includes projects for the construction of cross-border communication hubs, intercontinental cable trunk lines (terrestrial or underwater), fixed or wireless technologies.

The winners in each category will receive the EU Digital Connectivity Award on 7 October 2025 during the Connected Europe Facility conference and will be presented by the European Commission in the media, at relevant events and official platforms.
