For the fourth year in a row, the Republic of Lithuania has been providing strong and systematic support to Ukraine in the war against Russian aggression. The assistance covers the military, financial, humanitarian spheres, as well as the training of Ukrainian military personnel.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth over €769 million. The total amount of support has exceeded €1.5 billion and is long-term in nature. The Republic of Lithuania has pledged to allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP annually for military assistance to Ukraine, which amounts to about €190 million per year.
The main areas of support in 2025 include air defense, ammunition, drones, electronic warfare, as well as support for Ukraine’s defense industry through financing of weapons produced on its territory.
This year, Lithuania transferred 5,000 drones to Ukraine and allocated €35 million for the purchase of radars and demining equipment. Vilnius joined the demining coalition, supported the Czech initiative to supply ammunition and financed the purchase of drones and counter-drone systems. In addition, Lithuania invested €10 million in the production of unmanned missile systems “Palyanytsya” in Ukraine and allocated another €20 million for the purchase of domestic weapons.
As part of the EUMAM and Operation Interflex missions, Lithuania trained 3,500 Ukrainian military personnel in 2024. The training courses covered anti-tank weapons, engineering training, demining, cybersecurity and maintenance of armored vehicles. In addition, a rehabilitation program for wounded soldiers was launched, for which €15 million was allocated for the development of a corresponding system in Ukraine.
In June 2024, during the International Conference “The Way to Restore Ukraine’s Cultural Sector” in Vilnius, Lithuania announced the allocation of €300,000 for the reconstruction of the Taras Shevchenko Dnipro Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater. The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in the city of Dnipro, headed by Vitaliy Pivnyak, plays an important role in the development of humanitarian, medical and cultural cooperation. In November 2024, a delegation of Lithuanian doctors, including leading surgeons and emergency medicine specialists, visited the city of Dnipro. They shared their experience with Ukrainian colleagues in treating wounded soldiers and providing emergency care. With the support of the Consulate, a delegation from the Mechnikov Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital visited Lithuania, where Ukrainian doctors learned about Lithuanian approaches to treating complications of combat injuries.
Lithuania remains an important trading partner of Dnipropetrovsk region. The high level of partnership is evidenced by the bilateral analysis of foreign activities. Lithuanian companies are most interested in ferrous metals and products made from them, meat and edible offal, machinery and equipment, etc. According to the results of 2024, the volume of exports of goods from Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to $47.9 million and decreased by 18% compared to 2023.
More than 150 enterprises of Dnipropetrovsk region exported their products to the Lithuanian market, including enterprises of the metallurgical complex, machine-building, processing and agricultural companies.
Imports of goods from Lithuania to Dnipropetrovsk region decreased by 22.7% compared to 2023 and amounted to $53.99 million.
More than 100 importing enterprises in the region purchased plastics and polymer materials, oil and its distillation products, fish, dairy products, alcohol, etc.
Import operations have significantly increased by processing industry enterprises, trading and pharmaceutical companies.
