Joint projects and cooperation: Dnipropetrovsk Region at the economic forum in Karpacz

A delegation from the Dnipropetrovsk region, led by Mykola Lukashuk, chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, attended the 35th Economic Forum in Karpacz.

The delegation included Valentyna Zatyshniak, Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Investment Agency; Sergiy Kucheryavenko, First Vice President of the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry; representatives of the region’s mining and chemical enterprises; and Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. Taras Tokarskyi, Consul General of Ukraine in Wrocław, took an active part in supporting the work of the Dnipropetrovsk team during the forum.

The main result for the region: the Polish partners have continued co-financing the economic center in Dnipro.

The center was opened in February at the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, when partners from Lower Silesia came to visit us. It matches enterprises of the region with partners in Lower Silesia and provides support during negotiations.

Russian attacks are disrupting supply chains. Businesses are forced to find new suppliers and new orders. The salaries of workers and the taxes that sustain local communities depend on whether factories are operating.

Dozens of productive meetings with Polish partners took place during the forum, both at the level of the top officials of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Marshal Paweł Gancarz and Chairman of the Sejmik Jerzy Pokój, and at the level of top managers of enterprises and of organizations developing business support infrastructure and the economies of the two regions: Adam Mazur, President of the Lower Silesian Agency for Economic Cooperation (DAWG – Dolnośląska Agencja Współpracy Gospodarczej); Marcin Lerner, President of the Management Board of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone “INVEST-PARK” (WSEZ “INVEST-PARK”); the Lower Silesian Chamber of Commerce (DIG); and the Rector and project team of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, in order to look for new areas of cooperation and to initiate and continue joint projects.

Special mention should be made of the visit to Wałbrzyska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna “INVEST-PARK” and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland in Wałbrzych, where the models of the zone’s operation, offers for investors and an exchange of experience in the field of the region’s economic development were presented.

Also during the visit, the delegation became acquainted with modern manufacturing in practice and discussed opportunities for cooperation between entrepreneurs from Lower Silesia and Ukraine. The region’s Investment Guide was presented to the Polish partners. The Investment Guide of Dnipropetrovsk Region is a key publication on the region’s investment attractiveness and is actively promoted among interested parties internationally. The publication contains information on the structure of the economy, human capital, export potential and industrial parks. An important advantage of the digital version of the passport is its integration with DIA online services, which allows an investor to move in one click to the current portfolio of investment offers, the catalog of projects and other specialized databases.

The meeting with representatives of KGHM was productive, the parties discussed industrial cooperation with the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant. At the meeting with PCC Rokita, opportunities for supplying chemical products to enterprises of the region were considered. The enterprises will work through commercial offers and terms of cooperation.

The management of Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies and Wrocław University of Science and Technology agreed on a scheme of areas for implementing joint projects and is preparing an agreement on scientific cooperation in the fields of critical materials, materials science and aerospace technologies, as well as on joint work to access European programs funding inter-university cooperation.

We thank our partners for their support and for productive, sustained cooperation. Staying open to investment and economic cooperation.
