Doing business
Dnipropetrovsk Investment Agency keeps introducing about the level of Ukraine and Dnipropetrovsk region cooperation with other countries amid the unprovoked military aggression by the russian federation. For now, we propose an overview of the assistance provided by the Kingdom of Belgium and the foreign trade volume figures, which is derived from DIABASE data.
Austria’s foreign policy in 2024–2025 has proven itself as a reliable ally of Ukraine. Its assistance covers a wide range of areas: humanitarian support, diplomacy, infrastructure cooperation, participation in EU funds, protection of displaced persons and political sanctions. At the same time, observing military neutrality, the country actively invests in peace and stability in Europe. Ukraine’s total financial and humanitarian aid since the start of the full-scale war has reached almost €2.9 billion.
Economic cooperation
On June 16, 2025, in the presence of the President of Ukraine and the Federal Chancellor of Austria in Vienna, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Austria Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer signed the Declaration on Deepening Economic Cooperation.

Political and security cooperation
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha and the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Beate Meinl-Reisinger signed a Declaration of Intent on political cooperation and Austria’s participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
A joint communique on security and the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by russia was also signed.
Joint Work on the Tribunal
Ukraine and Austria are intensifying preparations for the creation of a Special Tribunal on the crime of russian aggression.
Demining and Infrastructure Protection
Austria, through the Nachbar in Not campaign, transferred €10 million for humanitarian demining of Ukrainian fields.
In June 2025, the presidents of both countries signed an agreement on deepening cooperation in the fields of demining, energy, cyber security and infrastructure restoration.
Austria also joined the Mine Action Coalition and invests in the creation of Ukrainian mine and drone protection systems.
Humanitarian aid and social projects
The amount of humanitarian aid from Austria as of the end of 2024 amounted to €293 million.

In addition, two ambulances, €2 million for medical projects and €3 million for international organizations (Red Cross, UNICEF, UNFPA) were handed over.
The «Haven» project, implemented with the support of the Federal organization «Caritas Austria», helps residents of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions who suffered from russian aggression. Support includes the repair and insulation of houses, as well as the purchase of solid fuel for heating in winter.
Investment and Trade
The Republic of Austria is among the TOP-10 largest investors in Ukraine. As of the end of 2024, the volume of Austrian investments exceeded $1.3 billion. More than 200 Austrian companies operate in Ukraine and their role in the process of restoring the country will grow.
A platform is also being created for exchanging information about the needs of Ukraine, holding B2B meetings and project presentations.
Trade between the countries reached $1.25 billion (+9.5%) in 2024, of which exports amounted to $626.9 million, imports — $624.9 million.
Austria remains an important trade and investment partner of Dnipropetrovsk region as well. There are 28 companies with Austrian investments operating in the region, which have invested $31 million in the region’s economy.
Austrian enterprises are most interested in ferrous metals and products thereof, ore, slag, furniture, parts of railway locomotives, knitted clothes, etc. The volume of exports of goods from Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to $31.9 million and increased by 35% compared to 2023. This is 5.1% of the volume of Ukraine’s indicator.
More than 40 enterprises of Dnipropetrovsk region exported their products to the Austrian market, these are enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex, processing industry, mechanical engineering and agricultural industry.

In turn, about 150 enterprises of importers in the region bought the most Austrian goods, namely: ferrous metal products, machinery and equipment, medicines, land transport vehicles, etc. Imports of goods from Austria to Dnipropetrovsk region decreased by 3.4% and amounted to $44.5 million. The share of the region in the import of Ukrainian goods from Austria is about 7.1%.
