Since the first days of full-scale Russian aggression, Slovenia has been providing military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Slovenia has already provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the amount of €8 million. Taking into account the size of the economy and population of Slovenia, this aid for our country is significant.
Slovenia fully supports sanctions against Russia and strongly demands punishment of the aggressor for war crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine. Supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, Ljubljana adheres to the common European policy towards Moscow: it votes for sanctions against the Russian Federation and fully implements them.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia has decided to reduce the staff of the Russian embassy due to the massacre committed by Russian troops in Buch. The Slovenian authorities sent home 33 Russian diplomats.
The Government of Slovenia sent financial aid to Ukraine amounting to almost €180,000. According to the Ministry of Defense of Slovenia, it is about 100 IP phones, 40 desktop computers, 40 laptops, gasoline generators, antennas and cables. This assistance came through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, aimed at coordinating the EU’s joint response to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and coordinating the provision of material assistance to Ukraine and neighboring countries.
In May of this year, Ukraine, Poland, and Slovenia agreed on new joint projects, in particular, the start of a pilot for the mutual recognition of digital documents.
Slovenia and its citizens warmly welcome the citizens of Ukraine who are fleeing the war, providing accommodation, food and everything necessary. To date, more than 7,000 Ukrainian refugees have found refuge in the country.
Slovenia delivered ammunition, Kalashnikov assault rifles and 35 BMPs to Ukraine. Also, the leadership of Slovenia sent several planes with military aid to Ukraine. These are rifles, ammunition and helmets for the military fighting the Russian occupiers.
Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine Tomaž Mentsin said that his country will take part in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of hostilities. There are already the first projects along the lines of sister cities in Kharkiv, it is about the restoration of public transport and the reconstruction of the Kharkiv Institute of Prosthetics.
The development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation remains an important priority of the two countries.
The analysis of export and import operations of the Dnipropetrovsk region with Slovenia demonstrates a high level of partnership relations, because the specified state is one of the key trade and investment partners of the region.
According to the results of 2021, the volume of exports of goods from the Dnipropetrovsk region decreased by 24.3% ($5.13 million), which was 6.8% of the volume of Ukraine to Slovenia. Among the goods that are in the greatest demand among Slovenian consumers are parts for railway locomotives, ferrous metals and products, furniture and their cleaning products, etc.
Export operations were carried out by 15 enterprises from the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The main exporting companies are enterprises of the metallurgical complex and the processing industry.

The import of goods from Slovenia to the Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to $87.42 million (30.4% of Ukraine’s imports from Slovenia) and increased by 8.5% compared to 2020. Dnipropetrovsk region bought the most medicines, lubricants, electric machines, food products and other things.
Import operations were carried out by 88 importer enterprises.
