For two days, the Dnipropetrovsk region hosted a delegation from the Czech Republic, comprising government officials, diplomats, and representatives of leading companies operating in the fields of energy, engineering, water supply, healthcare, and construction technologies. The visit aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in security, economy, infrastructure, and post-war recovery.
On May 15, a meeting took place under the leadership of Mykola Lukashuk, Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, with Pavel Žáček, Chairman of the Security Committee of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Radek Pech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine. During the event, the current situation in the region was discussed — including shelling, the needs of local communities, humanitarian challenges, and the integration of internally displaced persons. Dnipropetrovsk region presented its efforts to support veterans, protect communities, and counter threats. Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation at the community level in areas such as civil protection, cybersecurity, and rehabilitation. The healthcare sector was identified as a key priority, with the Czech Republic reaffirming its commitment to providing support in this area.
The culmination of the visit was the Ukrainian-Czech Business Forum, held on May 16 in Dnipro with the participation of Tomáš Kopečný, the Government Commissioner of the Czech Republic for Reconstruction of Ukraine. The forum served not merely as a discussion platform but as a practical venue for joint decision-making — with a focus on the economy, investment, and recovery. The event was brought together more than 100 representatives of the Ukrainian and the Czech companies, investors, communities and the government institutions.
As part of the forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, paving the way for systematic collaboration in attracting investment and supporting the recovery of the Dnipropetrovsk region in the fields of industry, logistics, healthcare, and energy efficiency.
Within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program and with the financial support of the Czech Republic, specific projects are already underway, including the modernization of hospitals, support for communities in water supply, and much more.
The visit of the Czech delegation once again demonstrates the high level of trust and strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Czech Republic. The agreed initiatives will have tangible follow-up in the near future through the implementation of joint projects and the attraction of the Czech investment to the region.
