Export of services from the Dnipropetrovsk region to the world’s countries for the 9 month of 2020 amounted to $121.2 mln (1.5% out of Ukraine’s export volume) and increased by 11.4% compared to the corresponding period of last year. The negative trade surplus amounted to $36.5 mln, but decreased compared to the corresponding period of 2019 by almost 2 times (for 9 months of 2019, the negative trade surplus was $82 mln).
By types of economic activity, the IT sector is the leader in exports ($49.9 mln) with a share of 41.2% and a positive dynamics by 5.23%, which remained at the level of the corresponding period last year. Transport services export with a share of 29.8% and an increase by 28% over the previous period, and amounted to $36.1 mln. Business services ($15.4 mln) with a share of 12.7% increased by almost 10%.
It should be noted that royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property increased by 3.8 times to the corresponding period of 2019 and amounted to $836.1 thousand. Services for the processing of material resources increased by 61.4% and road transport services also increased by 28%.
The leader among buyers of Ukrainian services is the United States ($26.2 mln), exports increased by 6.5% compared to the corresponding period of last year. The second largest exporter of services is Cyprus – $10.7 mln, trade with which increased by 9.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year. Russian Federation is in third place – $10.2 mln with a decrease by 10%.
The volume of services exports to the following countries has significantly increased: Albania (by 48 times), Switzerland (by 4 times), Estonia and Uzbekistan (by 3 times), Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Turkey and Hungary (by 2 times).
Import of services to the Dnipropetrovsk region from the world’s countries amounted to $157.8 mln (4.3% out of Ukraine’s import) and decreased by 17.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
The largest volume of services import (36.8%) falls on transport services. Import of these services doubled and amounted to $58.1 mln. The second place in the structure of import is occupied by royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property – $37.8 mln (24%). It should be noted that imports of these services decreased by 47.1%. Import of business services also decreased by 56.1% compared to the corresponding period of last year and amounted to $22.7 mln (14.4%).
Most of all, services were imported from Germany – $32.8 mln increased by 3 times. In second place there is the import of services from the USA – $8.4 mln, with a decrease by 73.8% compared to the corresponding period. Import from the Great Britain grew by 75% and amounted to $7.4 mln, which is the third place.
Services import increased the most from the following countries: Uzbekistan (by 28 times), Armenia and Canada (by 5 times), India and Turkey (by 3 times), Spain, Moldova and Sweden (by 2 times).
Foreign trade operations in the service sector were carried out by enterprises of the Dnipropetrovsk region with partners from 127 countries.
