Doing business
The traditional XXXIII Economic Forum organized by the Centre for Eastern Research took place in Karpacz, Poland. The slogan of this year’s forum was “Time for New Leaders – Shaping the Future Together” and was aimed at cooperation between the EU countries and their partner countries.
Plenary sessions and discussion panels brought together almost 6000 participants over three days. At the invitation of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Paweł Gancarz, Dnipropetrovsk region was represented by Mykola Lukashuk, Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Iryna Hrytsai, Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Pavlo Liubymov, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Regional State Administration, and Valentyna Zatyshniak, Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Investment Agency.
The key topics included international security in times of war, shaping the environmental future, digital transformation of Europe, and investments in sustainable development. Special attention was paid to the current and global issues related to the war in Ukraine, namely the discussion “From Occupation to Reconstruction: Revival of Ukrainian Cities and Regions” with the participation of the Chairman Mykola Lukashuk.
The Chairman of the Regional Council expressed his gratitude to the leadership and deputies of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for the solidarity of the Polish people with the people of Ukraine and support in providing humanitarian aid to the population of Dnipropetrovsk region and IDPs who were forced to leave their homelands because of the war. Mykola Lukashuk presented 72 major projects for the reconstruction of Dnipropetrovsk region aimed at developing the infrastructure of the territories, emphasizing to international partners the importance of active cooperation in this area. He paid special attention to the rebuilding projects that have already been implemented. We discussed the possibility of involving Polish companies in the reconstruction of our region, finding resources and building new mutually beneficial partnerships with European regions. He also focused on the need to use all possible platforms to cover events in Ukraine and daily challenges.
In addition, the regional delegation held a number of business meetings with representatives of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, namely with the Chairman of the Regional Sejmik Jerzy Pokój and Marshal Paweł Gancarz, members of the Regional Sejmik and other partners of the Voivodeship.
In the framework of the Forum, Valentyna Zatyshniak had a meeting with Adam Mazur, President of the Board of the Lower Silesia Economic Cooperation Agency.
She briefed the partners on the investment landscape of Dnipropetrovsk region and outlined investment priorities, presenting 32 investment projects aimed at the Ukrainian market. These projects are aimed at creating production facilities. They cover the industrial and energy sectors, agriculture, construction materials, housing, and logistics infrastructure.
The Forum also highlighted the prospects for further economic cooperation, especially in the context of supporting Ukraine and implementing joint projects in reconstruction, construction, and infrastructure. The presented investment opportunities have aroused high interest in cooperation with Dnipropetrovsk region, which is promising for the implementation of large-scale projects for further economic growth and stabilization in today’s challenges.
