How does the grant scheme work?
The “Climate Innovation Vouchers” grant project is part of the EBRD’s Climate Change Finance and Technology Transfer Center (FINTECC) program, supported by the EU under the EU4CLIMATE initiative. It has been implemented in Ukraine since 2017 by the NGO “Greencubator”.
Following the successful implementation of the project in Ukraine since 2017, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Union launched the second phase of the Climate Innovation Vouchers project in 2021 with a grant fund of €1.5 million.
In 2024, the project won the Ukrainian Enterprise Promotion Awards from the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine for supporting Ukrainian entrepreneurship. It also received a special award at the European level, from the European Enterprise Promotion Awards, in the category “Promoting Sustainable Transition.”
The vouchers have helped to create some of the key technologies that are at the heart of many Ukrainian green innovations.
The project has already supported 54 companies, including Delfast, which produces Guinness World Record-breaking electric bikes; TOKA, GO TO-U, operators of electric mobility solutions; S.Lab, producers of eco-friendly packaging on an industrial scale; Frendt, solutions for precision agriculture; Releaf Paper, producers of paper from fallen leaves, and others.
