The foreign trade turnover of goods with the EU countries was $ 4.3 bln and had a surplus of $ 1.2 bln The export-import coverage ratio is 1.7.
Goods export to Dnipropetrovsk region from the EU in 2018 amounted to $ 2.7 bln, which increased by almost 19% compared to last year. And it accounted for more than a third of export operations with world countries.
In 2018, most of all, the region exported ferrous metals and products from them, railway locomotives, electric machines, ores, slag and ash, seeds and fruits of oil plants, fats and oils.
Poland has become the leader among consumers of Ukrainian goods in the EU countries. Export to this country grew by 35.4% compared with 2017 and amounted to $ 715 mln. Most of all Poland bought ores, slags and ashes on $ 367.2 mln (51.3% of total exports). It should be noted that the export of these products increased by 33% compared to last year. Export of ferrous metals grew by 20% and amounted to $ 149.4 mln, exports of ferrous metals products also showed a positive trend (growth of almost 64%) and amounted to $ 72.1 mln. Export of mineral fuels increased by almost 2 times compared with last year and amounted to $ 82.4 mln. Clothes, electrical machines, glass and glass products, furniture, wood products, chemical products, fats and oils, seeds and fruits of oil plants, etc. were also exported to Poland.
206 enterprises of the region carried out export business with Poland, the largest exporters are: Pivnichnyi hirnycho-zbahachuvalnyi kombinat PJSK, Arselormittal Kryvyi Rih OJSC, Dniprovskyi metalurhiinyi zavod PJSK, Sklianyi alians Ltd, Dniprovskyi koksokhimichnyi zavod PJSK, Vyrobnycho-budivelna kompaniia Ahroprominvest Ltd, Dnipropetrovskyi meblevyi kombinat PJSK, ATLANTA-AHRO, Nadiezhda PJSK and others.
Hungary ranked second among European consumers of the region’s products, whose export grew by almost 51% compared to last year and amounted to $ 307 mln. The country is more interested in mineral fuels (almost 57% of total exports). Export of these products amounted to $ 173.6 mln and increased compared to 2017 by 32%. Ores, slags and ashes were also in great demand in Hungary, whose exports amounted to $ 111.5 and grew by more than 2 times. Also, cardboard and paper, ferrous metals and products from them, seeds and fruits of oil-bearing plants and others were exported to Hungary.
47 enterprises of the region were exported to Hungary, the largest exporters are: Interpaip Novomoskovskyi trubnyi zavod Pty Ltd, Metalurhiinyi zavod Dniprostal Ltd, Mizhnarodna paperova manufaktura Ltd, EDEM PJSK, Altyra Ltd, SHCHEDRO Ltd and other.
Slovakia is the third among consumers of the region’s products. It export $ 305.8 mln and remained almost at the last year level. A significant part of exports to this country (almost 90%) were ores, slags, and ashes. It amounted to $ 270.2 mln. Export of ferrous metals increased by 2 times compared with last year and amounted to $ 17 mln. Export of mineral fuels increased by 40% ($ 7.9 mln). Also, Ukrainian products from ferrous metals, wood products, inorganic chemistry products, railway locomotives, food products were in demand.
Export operations with Slovakia were carried out by 54 regional enterprises, the largest of which are: Inhuletskyi hirnycho-zbahachuvalnyi kombinat PJSK, Kryvorizkyi zalizorudnyi kombinat OJSC, Rudomain Ltd, Interpaip Novomoskovskyi trubnyi zavod Pty Ltd, Ukrkhimeksport Ltd, Koksokhimteplomontazh Ltd, Kompaniia FRESH Ltd, Kompaniia MAIS and other.
Goods import increased compared to last year, only by 6% and amounted to $ 1.58 bln. It is almost a third of all import operations from the world countries.
The Dnipropetrovsk region bought more ground transport vehicles, pharmaceutical products, boilers, machinery and equipment, electrical machines, polymeric materials, cardboard and paper, chemicals, furniture, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, meat and fish products.
Among the European Union countries, whose products were bought by the Dnipropetrovsk region, Germany is the leader. Its import grew by 3% compared to last year and amounted to $ 340.2 mln. Ukrainian consumers are interested in German boilers, machinery and equipment, the imports of which amounted to $ 73.9 mln, but import of these products decreased by 23.2% compared to last year. For consumers in the region, pharmaceutical products are also interesting. Its import grew by 10.7% and amounted to $ 72.7 mln. Polymeric materials, paper and cardboard, chemical products, electrical machines, more ground transport vehicles, meat and by-products were also in demand.
The second place in the import of goods is taken by Italy. Import has more than doubled compared to last year and amounted to $ 306.9 mln. The region bought more mineral fuels, the import of which increased by 4.5 times compared to 2017 and amounted to $ 107.4 mln. Interesting for Ukrainian consumers are Italian boilers, machinery ($ 73.8 mln), whose import grew by more than 2.5 times. Import of pharmaceutical products increased by 31% and amounted to $ 33.2 mln. Import of electric cars grew by more than 5 times and amounted to $ 20.1 mln. Also, the region bought alcoholic drinks, grain products, coffee and tea, polymeric materials, ferrous metals, and other.
Poland ranks third among European importers. Import from which decreased by 41% compared to last year and amounted to $ 204.4 mln. Although mineral fuels account for the largest share of total import from Poland (15.7%), imports of these products decreased by 83.4% compared with 2017 and amounted to $ 32.2 mln. Import of pharmaceutical products increased by 12% and amounted to $ 18.7 mln. Also, the region bought meat and by-products, finished grain products, salt, sulfur, essential oils, paper and cardboard, ferrous metals and products from them.
Foreign trade operations were carried out with partners from 25 European Union countries.
