In Dnipropetrovsk region, amaranth is sown with a combine harvester

FG “Region” in the Sofiivskyi district of Dnipropetrovsk region sowed amaranth with the help of a combine harvester. Oleksandr Duda, the head of the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers, said this.

He noted that barley was harvested in two fields of 30 and 35 hectares (sunflower was the predecessor). In one field, the seeding rate is 1.7 kg/ha, in the other – 1.9 kg/ha. Accordingly, 1.7 and 1.9 million amaranth seeds of the Ultra variety per 1 ha.

After sowing, they will be passed through a unit with turbodiscs to a depth of up to 4 cm to bury the seeds in dry soil and destroy perennial weeds, which are few.

In addition, this year it is already the second farm after Andriy Usov’s SFG “Anastasia” that chose this method of sowing amaranth.

“He sowed 70 hectares the day before. The seeds will remain on the surface, waiting for precipitation to germinate,” Oleksandr Duda notes.

The expert specified that such a simple and effective method of sowing has the following principle of operation: a sowing coil, eight seed lines and spreaders allow the seeds to be evenly distributed over the width of the harvester – 6 m.

“The purpose of sowing is to collect a ton of amaranth grain in mid-October. I am convinced that this method of sowing is worth paying attention to,” adds Oleksandr Duda.
