In January 2023, the pipe companies of Ukraine reduced the export of products by 58.6% compared to January 2021 – to 20.78 thousand tons. The income from the export of pipes during this period decreased by 46.5% y/y – to $41.64 million. This is evidenced by State Customs Service’s data.
Compared to December 2022, the export of pipe products in January 2023 fell by 18% in physical terms and by 9.2% in monetary terms.
In January 2023, Ukraine exported the most seamless pipes, tubes and hollow profiles (Nomenclature – 7304) – 16.17 thousand tons (-57.2% y/y) for $37.66 million (-42.2% y/y). / year). Also, 4.47 thousand tons (-63.2% y/y) of other pipes, tubes and hollow profiles made of ferrous metals (Nomenclature – 7306) worth $3.83 million (-69.52% y/y) were shipped abroad. Most Ukrainian pipes were delivered to Germany, the USA and Poland.
In 2022, Ukrainian pipe companies reduced the export of products by 33.6% compared to 2021 – to 400.4 thousand tons. The income of companies from the export of pipes in 2022 amounted to $688.51 million, which is 10.1% less on an annual basis.
Now pipe producers are experiencing problems with the logistics of finished products due to the blockade of ports and the close proximity of hostilities. Centravis company, despite the shelling of Nikopol, continues to work in two shifts. It is noted that the company’s workshops are equipped with billets and necessary materials.
In the first half of 2022, pipe companies of Ukraine produced 226.9 thousand tons of pipes, which is 27.1% less compared to the same period of 2021. In 2022, the drop in production will be more significant due to problems with energy supply in the second half of last year and logistical constraints.
The main producers of pipes in Ukraine are Interpipe NIKO TUBE LLC, Interpipe NTRP, DMZ Kominmet, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, Interpipe NMPP, Trubostal, Centravis, Dnipropetrovsk Pipe Plant and Slavsant.
