On October 7, 2016 in the framework of the Weeks of Germany in Ukraine with the support of the Programme to Support the Green Modernization of the Ukrainian Economy implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Dnipropetrovsk Regional Investment Agency the Regional Economic Forum „Green Economy and Green Solutions” was held.

The Forum was attended by such honoured guests as the Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany and representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

„Dnipropetrovsk is the first Ukrainian region, which is actively implemented the ideas of „green” modernization of the economy. The implementation of „green” solutions will make regional business more competitive in the European and world markets, and in its turn this will have a positive impact on the environmental and economic situation of the region,” – Gleb Prigunov, the Chairman of the Regional Council, noted.

”The Programme to Support the Green Modernization of the Ukrainian Economy implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in the Dnipropetrovsk region, with the support of Germany – is a very good initiative for the region. In fact Dnipropetrovsk region is a pilot region for the implementation of the Programme and has already proved to be a leader in this regard”, – Volodymyr Tiurin, the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council, said.

The whole program of the event consisted of three panels. The first part was devoted to the problems and prospects of implementation of sustainable development in Ukraine, as well as the conditions of the transition to a green economy. The second part consisted of the experience exchange between representatives of companies on the implemented and application of new technologies in the industry. The third panel discussion included the discussion of the green market services, as well as the possibilities and limitations of green solutions.

It should be noted that this year the Forum has gained significant popularity among the enterprises and organizations of the region. The event was attended by over 200 specialists of enterprises and organizations of Dnipropetrovsk region.
