Since the beginning of the year, the total catch of aquatic bioresources has amounted to over 18 thousand tonnes

In January-April 2025, the total catch of fish and other aquatic bioresources by Ukrainian fishing enterprises amounted to 18,265 tonnes.

In particular, the largest amount of aquatic bioresources was caught in the area of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian-flagged vessels have caught 16,111 tonnes of Antarctic krill.

At the same time, commercial fishermen caught 1,296 tonnes of aquatic bioresources in Ukrainian waters. In particular, 907 tonnes of fish and other aquatic bioresources were caught in the Dnipro reservoirs, 222 tonnes in the lower Dniester River (with lakes and the Turunchuk arm) and the Dniester Estuary, 92 tonnes in the Danube River, 58 tonnes in the Dnipro-Bug estuary system, 9 tonnes in the Tiligul Estuary, 4 tonnes in the Berezan Estuary, and 4 tonnes in other water bodies.

The main catches were: silver crucian carp – 581 tonnes, bream – 292 tonnes, Black Sea herring – 98 tonnes, roach (tarania) – 82 tonnes, and flathead – 65 tonnes. At the same time, fishing in the Black and Azov Seas remains blocked as a result of Russia’s military aggression.

In addition, special commercial fish farms (SCFs) combining elements of aquaculture and commercial fishing are operating in certain areas of the State Fisheries Agency’s territorial bodies. Since the beginning of the year, 518 tonnes of aquatic bioresources have been harvested in the SPF mode.

It is also estimated that 340 tonnes of commercial aquaculture products were caught in January-April.
