Strengthening of foreign economic relations between the Hellenic Republic and Dnipropetrovsk region

For three years in a row, Athens has been providing humanitarian, technical and defence support to Ukraine. Since the first day of war, the country has taken a clear principled position and fully supported Ukraine. Greece stands in solidarity with the country under attack and fully supports Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Greece provides Ukraine with weapons to repel the enemy, namely weapons of USSR production, including armoured vehicles and artillery ammunition. At the same time, the country, through the Czech Republic, is supplying Ukraine with aircraft missiles, artillery pieces and ammunition.

In total, Greece has officially supplied Ukraine with 20,000 155-mm artillery shells, Stinger missiles and 40 BMP-1 armoured personnel carriers. Greece is planning to transfer 70 US 155 mm M114A1 howitzers to its army in the future.

The Hellenic Republic is going to decommission 32 F-16 Block-30 fighters. The issue of their possible transfer to Ukraine is being discussed. The provision of these fighters could significantly strengthen Ukraine’s aviation and air defence.

Greece has joined the Coalition of countries that are ready to help Ukraine clear its territory of russian mines. The main task of the Coalition is to assist in both humanitarian demining in the liberated territories and combat demining on the contact line.

The Hellenic Republic intends to take an active part in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. There are many companies and organisations in the country that have accumulated experience and comparative advantages in the field of reconstruction. Four massive transformers are currently being prepared for shipment, which convert the high-voltage direct current produced by power plants into a lower alternating voltage.

In addition to military aid, the country sends humanitarian aid to Ukrainians. The Consulate of Ukraine in Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the “Ukrainian Greek Initiative” community, organised and sent humanitarian aid with medicines to Ukraine for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The medicines were collected with the help of the Greek pharmaceutical company “GIVMED” and donated by ordinary citizens from small towns in the regions of Northern Greece.  The Greek Volunteer Centre “ΗΛΙΟΣ” for Ukrainian mothers and their children in Perea’ also sent another humanitarian aid to Ukraine. It includes clothes, medical devices and 300 kg of lentils, which will be used for special processing of food into porridge and immune formula.
