The Government expands the powers of the Ministry of Digital Transformation

The Government has adopted a resolution defining the main areas of development in the fields of robotics, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence and semiconductor technologies in Ukraine.

The document provides for the expansion of the functions of the Ministry of Digital Transformation – from now on, the Ministry will be responsible for policy-making in the areas of robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technologies.

The Government’s resolution will help ensure the country’s technological independence and promote the development of the domestic industry. It will also create opportunities to support Ukrainian technology developers and implement innovative robotic and unmanned solutions.

The resolution is also part of the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Development of Innovations of Ukraine until 2030 (WINWIN), in particular, in terms of the development of the semiconductor industry and internal infrastructure for artificial intelligence.

What will change:

  • Regulatory framework: requirements for technology providers to ensure data protection and efficiency of solutions in the areas of robotics and unmanned systems.
  • Support for research: promoting the development of research, education and training programs in the areas of robotics, unmanned systems and AI.
  • Business support: financial support for companies operating in the fields of robotics, drones, AI, and semiconductors.
  • Focus on microelectronics: development of domestic semiconductor production. There are plans to create an innovation cluster in the microelectronics sector.
  • Development and implementation of AI in Ukraine, in particular in the field of public administration and security.
  • Creating a platform for the rapid introduction of Ukrainian technological solutions to the market.
  • Implementation of a system for testing and certification of innovative technologies, which will allow for the rapid adaptation of the latest solutions. It is planned to create an infrastructure for testing and demonstrating technologies.

Thus, with the adoption of the resolution, Ukraine will have more opportunities to create robotic and unmanned solutions that can be used not only in industry but also in everyday life, from medical robots to autonomous vehicles. In addition, the decree will help improve the investment climate, which will allow attracting international companies and startups to cooperate with Ukrainian enterprises, and bring Ukraine closer to the standards of the European Union in the field of innovation and digital technologies.
