During the Second Forum of Regions of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus , which ended in Zhytomyr, two intergovernmental agreements and 15 agreements on interregional cooperation were signed. In particular, Dnipropetrovsk region signed a Cooperation agreement with Mogilev region.

Commercial agreements between enterprises were signed for the amount of $ 543 million, which is 5 times more than last year.

“Ukraine is one of the main trade partners of Belarus. This was the first message of the President of the Republic of Belarus Oleksandr Lukashenko during his speech at the Forum.

At the time of plenary session, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi pointed that the Forum was a significant event for both countries. “I want to assure you that our cooperation will be consistent and constructive,” said the Head ofthe  state.

The Forum has become a unique and effective platform for dialogue. Thanks to the event, the economic interaction at the regional level and the content of horizontal contacts has been expanding. Belarus remains an important economic partner of Ukraine, with whom trade and cooperation ties in various sectors are maintained. We complement each other in industry, agriculture, and we share common interests in transport and logistics.

Over the past three years, trade turnover between the countries has increased 1,5 times in general and amounted to $5,5 in 2018. The huge potential of economic cooperation between our countries has not been exhausted. There is a mutual interest in developing further cooperative relations in industry and agriculture.

“Belarus remains a reliable partner for Ukraine, which helps to achieve peace on Ukrainian territory, and the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is the border of peace and cooperation. Our cooperation was, is, and surely will always be consistent and constructive. Actually, this is how it should be between friends and the closest neighbors,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
