On 14 February 2024, a business delegation from the Czech Republic headed by Ambassador Radek Pech and Commissioner for Reconstruction of Ukraine Tomáš Kopeční and 15 Czech companies, including multinationals, visited Dnipropetrovsk region.
Dnipropetrovsk Investment Agency DIA worked with its Czech partners during an official meeting with the leadership of the regional council and within the framework of the Second Ukrainian-Czech Business Forum.
During an official meeting with the Head of the Regional Council, the participants discussed options for economic cooperation, the intensity of cooperation on recovery projects in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and preparations for joint activities in priority areas of cooperation. In particular, the following Ukrainian-Czech forums are already planned for the current year, covering the issues of medicine, engineering, technical education and water supply.
“We are strengthening our cooperation, which actually started after the visit of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. Our immediate plans include assistance to our hospitals, housing for IDPs, provision of backup power supplies, water treatment equipment, support for education and healthcare. Interaction with business, restoration of communities affected by Russian aggression,” said Mykola Lukashuk, Chairman of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
“We are here today with the largest delegation ever. We are planning many areas of cooperation. This includes the installation of 14 water treatment plants for communities affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, equipment for hospitals and much more,” said Tomasz Kopechny.
The work with the Czech delegation continued at the Second Ukrainian-Czech Business Forum. The forum was also attended by 100 Ukrainian companies operating in the energy, construction, manufacturing, transport, education, and agriculture sectors.
Czech business representatives presented their solutions to help our hospitals, provide housing for internally displaced people, backup power supplies for social facilities and water treatment equipment for local communities.
“For this purpose, the Czech Republic has introduced a government programme of humanitarian, stabilisation, reconstruction and economic assistance to Ukraine. It is aimed at supporting state-owned and municipal enterprises in Dnipropetrovsk region. In order to implement the programme, DIA, in cooperation with the Czech Trade Support Agency, will work with the region’s utilities to include them in the programme,” said Valentyna Zatyshniak, director of the Dnipro Regional Investment Agency.
Today, despite the difficulties of martial law, 20 Czech companies continue to operate in the Dnipro region. These are well-known agricultural, trade, construction and other enterprises.
Mykola Lukashuk also thanked the representatives of the delegation for their fruitful cooperation and active position in helping our region. “We thank the Czech people for their support! Today it is extremely important for us to feel that our European partners are by our side – for the sake of justice and our Victory!”
