In January-March 2025, Ukrainian scrap metal companies collected 505.9 thousand tons of ferrous metal scrap, which is 18.5% more than in the same period last year, when 426.8 thousand tons were collected. This data is provided by the UAVtormet association.

During the first quarter of this year, 401 thousand tons of secondary raw materials entered the domestic market, which is 16.4% more compared to the first quarter of 2024. Technological scrap reserves at Ukrainian steel plants as of April 1 are estimated at 20-25 thousand tons.

In the three months since the beginning of the year, scrap metal exports from Ukraine increased by 32% year-on-year, amounting to 80.9 thousand tons, while in the first quarter of 2024, 61.3 thousand tons were sold outside the country.

In 2024, almost 1.75 million tons of scrap metal were collected in Ukraine. At the beginning of this year, UAVtormet predicted a decrease in the procurement of metallurgical raw materials by 5-17%, to the level of 1.45-1.65 million tons by the end of 2025.
