Ukraine has received an official status in ENTSO-E

April 26, an agreement was signed in Warsaw on granting NPC Ukrenergo an observer status in the ENTSO-E – the European association for the cooperation of transmission system operators for electricity.

“This agreement brings Ukraine even closer to full integration with European energy markets and determines our future development. I am grateful to our European partners and friends for their support and trust. I am convinced that this event is important not only for us, but also for Europe. Ukraine’s membership in ENTSO-E will be mutually beneficial, as we will not only study and implement best European practices, but will also be able to share invaluable experience in ensuring the reliability of the power system in extreme conditions,” said German Galushchenko.

The event gathered together EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, ENTSO-E President Hervé Lafaye, ENTSO-E Supervisory Board Chair Joachim Vanzetta, ENTSO-E Secretary-General Sonya Twohig, leaders of NPC Ukrenergo, the Polish PSE transmission system operator and others.

The status of an observer member will allow NEC Ukrenergo to join the international association of European Transmission System Operators.

As an observer member, the Ukrainian operator will be able to participate in the meetings of the ENTSO-E Regional Group Continental Europe. Representatives of the company will be able to join the working and expert groups of ENTSO-E, which deal with electricity market development, balancing, ancillary services, electronic data exchange, development of cyber security in the electricity sector, integration of renewable energy sources and more.
