Ukraine imports agricultural products mainly from the EU

Ukraine imported $9.12 bln worth of agricultural and food products, which is 13% more than a year earlier ($8.08 bln).

For the seventh year in a row, EU countries remain the main supplier of agricultural products to Ukraine: imports from the European Union increased by almost 15% to $4.914 billion compared to $4.263 billion in 2024, and the share of the EU was 53.9%.

Imports from other regions were lower: from Asia — $1.635 billion (17.9%), from Latin America — $693 million (7.6%), and from Africa — $489 million (5.4%).

Poland has held the top spot in the supplier ranking since 2017: in 2025, it exported $1.151 billion worth of agricultural products to Ukraine (+24% to $925 million in 2024).

The top 10 suppliers also included Germany ($692 mln), Turkey ($654 mln), Italy ($575 mln), the Netherlands ($417 mln), Norway ($338 mln), France ($317 mln), Spain ($314 mln), China ($264 mln), and the United States ($235 mln). Together, these ten countries accounted for 54% of total agricultural imports.

The import structure was dominated by fruits, berries, and nuts ($1.0 bln), fish and seafood ($999 mln), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ($870 mln), cocoa products ($640 mln), various food products ($575 mln), tobacco products ($493 mln), animal feed and waste ($476 mln), coffee, tea, and spices ($471 mln), vegetables ($467 mln), and oilseeds and oil fruits ($418 mln). These groups accounted for 70% of the value of imports.

Imports of agricultural products in 2025 reached their highest level in monetary terms since independence and are likely to remain high in 2026.
