WAR.UKRAINE.UA, Ukraine’s official and verified digital platform launched to cover Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 8 languages, has been updated to address the current context of war as well as its causes and consequences for Ukraine and the future of the world. The project is co-funded by the European Union and the Government of the United Kingdom.
“Since the very onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, our WAR.UKRAINE.UA platform has played a major role in delivering timely and fact-based updates to a wide foreign audience. We have reached over 743 million users across the globe, telling them stories of Ukrainian unity and bravery in the face of Russian atrocities. Now we have further upgraded the platform to meet the requests of our audience. The new version will provide more editorials, analytical articles, long reads, and interviews with eyewitnesses of the war. With the new updates, we will reach an even larger audience and counter Russian propaganda more effectively”, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba says.
The website WAR.UKRAINE.UA is created and managed with the mission to collect and share up-to-date, factual, and expert-verified information about the ongoing war events by the non-governmental organisation BRAND UKRAINE in close partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The website also has a dedicated section RUSSIA’S WAR CRIMES for war crimes documentation with the facts and witnesses of Russia’s violations of international law and rules of war since the invasion on the 24th of February, 2022.
The Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas highlights that “The website WAR.UKRAINE.UA provides key facts on ongoing unjustified Russia’s war against Ukraine: world citizens demand and deserve having reliable and accurate information on the war that affects so many people, also far away from the battlefield. This website, co-funded by the European Union, also helps debunk Kremlin’s disinformation on war crimes, the food crisis, and other topics that matter to European and global audiences. The upgraded version of WAR.UKRAINE.UA will provide even more analysis and stories by experts, activists and people on the ground to readers who seek to know the truth on the Russian aggression in Ukraine”.
In recognition of the most recent attacks on Ukraine’s civilians and energy infrastructure in October 2022, the WAR.UKRAINE.UA has been updated with additional materials on the events, including a timeline of Russia’s acts of terror, photos, and video evidence with the key goal to raise international awareness about Russia’s atrocities and make sure that the war criminals will be held accountable.
The upgraded version of WAR.UKRAINE.UA includes new sections that correspond to the international audience’s requests and search queries:
The new explainer Russia’s aggression timeline lets the users explore the 8-year-long history of Russia’s war in Ukraine, starting from 2014 when Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions were occupied;
The new article “Why does this matter to the world?” explains the scale and nature of Russia’s invasion’s impact on global stability and order;
The new category News & Stories provides articles and interviews with eyewitnesses and survivors to understand the human context of the war, supported by daily newsfeed updates.
