On July 5, 2021, a delegation of Kazakhstan headed by Darkhan Kaletaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine, visited the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Acquaintance with the region and the establishment of interregional ties began with a working meeting with the First Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Gennady Gufman and the Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Investment Agency (DIA) Valentyna Zatyshniak.
The delegation of Kazakhstan was represented by: secretaries of the Karaganda regional and Temirtau city maslakhat, counselors of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine and the honorary consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Dnipro.
“In the Dnepropetrovsk region, namely in Kamianske, the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, once studied and worked. Therefore, this visit is especially interesting and important for us. Kazakhstan has a lot in common with Ukraine and in the future we would like to strengthen economic partnership. I am sure that the cooperation that has been laid for more than one year will be strengthened in the future as a sign of the development of our relations”, – said Darkhan Kaletaev.
The parties also discussed the prospects for establishing and strengthening Kazakh-Ukrainian interregional ties.
“The opening of the consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Dnipropetrovsk is another confirmation that Kazakhstan is interested in our region. And also – proof of the willingness of representatives of the region to be useful and effective for our foreign partners. And the Memorandum on long-term cooperation between the Dnipropetrovsk and Karaganda regions will contribute to the deepening of bilateral relations”, said Gennady Gufman.
Valentyna Zatyshniak, Director of DIA, presenting the economic and investment potential of the Dnipropetrovsk region, pointed out the directions of possible further cooperation.
“The dynamics of trade between the region and Kazakhstan demonstrates that the most successful year was 2019, both in terms of imports and exports. The region accounts for more than 29% of all imports from Kazakhstan to Ukraine. The region is also increasing its export positions and last year covered more than 7% of the all-Ukrainian indicator. For further cooperation, the business community of the region offers Kazakhstani partners the following areas: hygienic and cosmetic products, food for long-term storage, valves and tanks, railway transport and track infrastructure, metallurgical products and metal structures”, said Valentyna Zatyshniak.
The participants identified key areas and topics of mutual interest. First, it is an opportunity for further cooperation to create joint investment projects in the Dnipropetrovsk region and in Kazakhstan with the involvement of the technological, scientific and human potential of both parties.
During the meeting, the Kazakh side was presented with an “Investment Guide”, which describes the investment climate of the region, analysis of the structure of the economy, key features and priority areas for investment, as well as territories available for the implementation of projects.
