Doing business
Since the beginning of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, the Government of New Zealand has been providing our country with extensive military, diplomatic, legal and humanitarian assistance, and applying sanctions pressure on the terrorist country. New Zealand believes that the most important thing is to achieve a just peace as soon as possible, built on the principles of international law and respect for the sovereignty of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, New Zealand has imposed sanctions against more than 1,200 Russian individuals and legal entities. Managers and shareholders of companies that develop and produce missiles and firearms, as well as members of neo-Nazi paramilitary groups associated with the Wagner mercenary group, also fell under the restrictions. The country imposed significant trade restrictions, which led to a sharp reduction in bilateral trade with Russia, and banned the import of Russian gold due to aggression against Ukraine.
Through the International Committee of the Red Cross, New Zealand provided $37 million to support Ukrainians. These are medical goods and equipment, power transformers and generators, the most necessary winter goods for vulnerable families in Ukraine, such as food, water and hygiene items.
The state also allocated an additional $1.85 million to the NATO Trust Fund for non-lethal military equipment and self-defense supplies, including winter clothing, food rations, mobile generators, ambulances, medical kits and other vital supplies.
Another $1.85 million will be allocated by the New Zealand Government to the World Food Program to help solve the problem of global food security, which has worsened due to Russian military aggression.
New Zealand has joined the mission to train Ukrainian fighters in Great Britain until July 2023. The country sent 186 of its servicemen to help train the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Two training groups train Ukrainian personnel in combat operations on the front line, in particular, handling weapons and first aid. Also, New Zealand sent aid to Ukraine in the form of non-lethal weapons, including individual first-aid kits, bulletproof vests, and helmets.
New Zealand remains an important trade partner for Dnipropetrovsk region. The growing level of partnership relations is evidenced by a bilateral analysis of external activities.
New Zealand companies are most interested in ships, machinery and mechanisms, plastics and polymer materials, etc. The volume of goods export from Dnipropetrovsk region increased 33 times and amounted to $169.9 thousand, which is 1.4% of the volume of the indicator of Ukraine.
5 enterprises of Dnipropetrovsk region exported their products to the New Zealand market. These are enterprises of the metallurgical complex, processing industry and machine-building enterprises.

In turn, 17 importing enterprises of the region mostly bought New Zealand goods, namely: fish and seafood, alcoholic beverages, machines and mechanisms, and others. The import of goods from New Zealand to Dnipropetrovsk region increased by 90.5% and amounted to $1.6 million. The share of the region in the import of goods from Ukraine to New Zealand is about 7%.
