PIC code: the first step of municipalities towards European grants

To actively engage in international grant cooperation, especially if it concerns European Commission programs, Ukrainian municipalities must meet the requirements of grantmakers. Thus, to participate in European Union programs, it is necessary to obtain a PIC code (Participant Identification Code) – an organization identification number.

The European Commission has a number of priority areas according to which it allocates funding for programs:

  • sustainable development and competitiveness of Europe,
  • strengthening security and defense,
  • supporting the quality of life of people,
  • social policy,
  • protecting democracy and values,
  • international partnership.

Ukrainian communities are helped to obtain the necessary code by specialists of the “U-LEAD with Europe” – during consultations and information sessions. They introduce participants to the European Commission portal and provide access to search for programs, form partnerships and submit applications.

To do this, you need to register on the Funding & Tenders Portal and obtain a PIC code. Obtaining this code essentially means ‘registering’ the Ukrainian municipality in the European space of opportunities. It opens up access to international partnerships, grants and projects.
