The agricultural sector is in the top three in attracting capital investment

The total volume of capital investments in the Ukrainian economy in 2019 amounted to about UAH 584.5 bln. Among them, about UAH 54.6 bln was raised in agriculture, hunting and the provision of related services, which is 10% of the total investments. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB).

“Despite an increase in total investment by 11% in 2019, capital investments in the agricultural sector decreased by UAH 10.3 bln, or 15.8%, compared to 2018. The decrease in capital investments in 2019 is caused by two key factors: the revaluation of the hryvnia and expectations of the land market opening”, — noted in the message.

Agriculture remained one of the three leaders in attracting capital investment among Ukrainian economy sectors, however, it is inferior to industry and construction.

According to the State Statistics Service, quarterly investor activity in this area is as follows:

  • I quarter – UAH 10.9 bln;
  • II quarter – UAH 12.6 bln;
  • III quarter – UAH 14.8 bln;
  • IV quarter – UAH 16.7 bln.

Capital investments in the Dnipropetrovsk region economy in 2019 amounted to about UAH 65.8 bln (11.3% out of the volume of capital investments in Ukraine). Among them, about UAH 2.5 bln was raised in agriculture, which is 3.4% of the total investments in the region. Capital investments in the agricultural sector decreased by UAH 0.6 bln, or 26.2% compared to 2018.
