The Government approved the Export Strategy of the Agricultural Products, Food and Processing Industry of Ukraine until 2026

The development of Ukraine’s foreign trade in the agro-industrial complex is planned to be carried out in accordance with the new Export Strategy of the Agricultural Products, Food and Processing Industry of Ukraine approved by the Government of Ukraine.

The purpose of the Strategy is to actively promote Ukrainian producers to the world food market, through informational and analytical support of exporters by actual data, electronic services and marketing measures.

Main directions of export policy development:

  • increase the part of deep processing products;
  • providing access to foreign markets for domestic exporters;
  • increase of organic products.

The Strategy includes:

  • introduction of export potential assessment tools for main types of products;
  • introduction of production requirements and quality schemes according to the Ukraine – European Union Association Agreement
  • improvement of sanitary and phytosanitary measures in the field of product safety;
  • stimulation of using of innovative approaches and technological solutions in production.

It should be noted that the agro-industrial complex of Dnipropetrovsk region is the fourth in Ukraine in terms of volume of sold production amounted to $ 2 billion (6% of Ukraine) and shows an increase of 9% compared to last year.

Capital investment in the regional sector of agro-industrial complex in 2018 amounted to $ 217.5 million (an increase of 17.7% by 2017), about half of which was invested in crop production.

In foreign trade, the regional sector of agro-industrial complex, with a part of 6.9%, is the second in rank with the sum of $ 540.6 million. Imports amounted to $ 462.0 million (8.3%). At the same time, a significant part of the proceeds is returned abroad for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment. The surplus of the agro-industrial complex of the region demonstrates the export-oriented development of the sector.
