The Kingdom of Denmark continues to support the people of Ukraine and provides ongoing support in response to Russia’s ongoing violations of international law. Denmark is one of the leaders in financial aid to Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the total military support amounted to $1.4 billion, and the total humanitarian aid, including macro-financial aid, amounted to $212 million.
Denmark, which has a population of less than 6 million people, in March established a 7 billion Danish kroner (about $1 billion) endowment fund to provide military, civilian and business aid to Ukraine in 2023. As of May of this year, the Fund spent 70% of the allocated funds on assistance to Ukraine. Therefore, the Government of Denmark will allocate an additional 7.5 billion kroner (about $1.08 billion), which will make a total of 14.5 billion Danish kroner (about $2.08 billion). Next year, the Danish government has planned to provide another 10.4 billion kroner ($1.5 billion) in aid to Ukraine.
Also, the Kingdom of Denmark opened a special investment fund for Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion Danish kroner, which is approximately $133 million. The fund will finance projects involving the best Danish technologies and innovative solutions, and will be available to both the public and private sectors. . It has already been announced that funding has been approved for two pilot projects in the field of agriculture and agro-processing. We are talking about the affected companies of the southern regions of Ukraine – Nibulon, which will be given a loan for €25 million, and Agrofusion – €15 million. Also, loans will be given to agricultural companies that were located near the front line in the Mykolaiv region and will restore destroyed production facilities, purchasing equipment from Danish exporters.
For the second year of the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Denmark supports our country and provides it not only with humanitarian aid, but also with military aid. In particular, Denmark handed over all its CAESAR self-propelled howitzers, and the first units of Leopard 1 tanks are being prepared for delivery. A joint decision of the partners regarding fighter jets is also expected. In early May 2023, the Kingdom of Denmark provided Ukraine with a significant package of military equipment. The 1.7 billion Danish kroner ($250 million) package includes demining and armored recovery vehicles, ammunition and air defense equipment, according to Denmark’s defense ministry.
In addition, Denmark will donate field bridges, ammunition, night-time warfare equipment, as well as non-lethal aid such as fuel, first aid equipment and field rations.
In May 2023, at a meeting in the Ramstein format, a decision was made to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighters, in particular the F-16. The European coalition for the training of Ukrainian pilots will be headed by Denmark and the Netherlands. Norway, Belgium, Portugal and Poland will also participate in this process.
The development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation also remains an important priority of the two countries. The analysis of export and import transactions of Dnipropetrovsk region with Denmark demonstrates a high level of partnership relations, because the specified state is an important trading partner of the region.
According to the results of 2022, the volume of exports of goods from Dnipropetrovsk region, despite the aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, increased by 13.1% and amounted to $20.1 million. Among the goods that are in demand among Danish consumers are ferrous metals and their products, fuel mineral, other base metal products, means of land transport, etc.
Export operations were carried out by 19 enterprises from Dnipropetrovsk region. The main exporting companies are enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex, processing industry and machine-building enterprises.

The import of goods from Denmark to Dnipropetrovsk region amounted to $9.6 million and increased by 8% compared to 2021. Dnipropetrovsk region traditionally bought: meat and edible offal, pharmaceutical products, machines and equipment, protein substances, etc.
