The President has charged to file membership application for Ukraine in IRENA

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine has charged Serhii Savchuk, Head of State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine to file membership application for Ukraine in the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

This is referred to the decree №200, posted on the website of the President.

Moreover, the President has charged the Cabinet of Ministers to include the membership fee payment of the country

into IRENA’s budget within the budget allocations provided by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.

International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an organization, which was founded in 2009 to support the usage of all forms of renewable energy sources.

IRENA makes easier access to all necessary information on renewable energy sources, including technical materials.

The organization was established in Bonn on January, 26, 2009 upon an initiative of German government.

The statute of IRENA has been signed by 75 countries at the foundation conference. In June, 2009, Abu Dhabi has been chosen as a temporary headquarters of the organization at the Committee meeting. The organization Statute entered into force on July, 8, 2010.

Currently, the IRENA includes 147 members, and 29 states have started a formal process to become a member.
