Ukraine joins the COP28 Declaration on Climate, Relief, Recovery and Peace

On the sidelines of COP28, representatives of more than 120 countries joined together for the important launch of the COP28 Declaration on Climate, Relief, Recovery and Peace.

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Viktoriia Kireeva took an active part in the discussions on urgent climate action and necessary funding for communities in crisis.

Important pledges from country representatives and agencies underscored the unity, signalling a decisive step towards sustainable solutions. Across the humanitarian, development, climate and peace sectors, the Declaration received broad support, demonstrating a united global voice.

To underpin these political commitments, a number of new financial pledges were announced for climate and health, including a USD 300 million commitment from the Global Fund to prepare health systems, USD 100 million from the Rockefeller Foundation to scale up climate and health solutions, and a pledge of up to GBP 54 million from the UK Government.

This event is historic, demonstrating collaboration and determination to create a sustainable future in the face of the climate crisis.
