Export of services from the Dnipropetrovsk region to the world’s countries in the 1st half of 2020 amounted to $82.1 mln (1.5% out of Ukraine’s export volume) and increased by 15% compared to the corresponding period of last year. Export of services in Ukraine decreased by 11.6%. The negative trade surplus amounted to $ 26.2 thousand, but decreased compared to the corresponding period of 2019 by almost 2.5 times. It should be noted that the export of services to the EU countries grew by almost 20% compared to the first half of last year, and accounts for half of the total region’s export.
By types of economic activity, the IT sector is the leader in exports ($34 mln) with a share of 41.4% and a positive dynamics by 5.23%, transport services ($23.2 mln) with a share of 28.3% and an increase by 31.5% over the previous period, business services ($10.2 mln) with a share of 12.4% and an increase by 4.6%.
The most dynamic growth was observed in the export of road transport services, by 42.4% ($8.9 mln). Royalties and other services related to the use of intellectual property increased almost by 5 times and amounted to $0.8 mln. Also, services for the processing of material resources and information services increased by 70% – $3.4 mln each of it.
The leader among buyers of Ukrainian services is the United States ($17.5 mln), exports increased by 10.4% compared to the corresponding period of last year. The second largest exporter of services is Cyprus – $7.6 mln, trade with which increased by 6.6% compared to the corresponding period of last year. Germany is in third place – $5.8 mln with an increase by 31.8%.
Import of services to the Dnipropetrovsk region from the world’s countries amounted to $108.3 mln (4.6% out of Ukraine’s import) and decreased by 20.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
The largest volume of services import (37.5%) falls on transport services. Import of these services doubled and amounted to $40.6 mln. It should be noted that railway transport services increased more than 4 times ($7.6 mln), and maritime transport services by 30% ($6.4 mln), compared to the first half of 2019.
The second place in the structure of import is occupied by services for the acquisition of a franchise and other services related to the use of intellectual property – $22.2 mln (20.5%). But imports of these services decreased by 52%. Import of business services also decreased by 58% compared to the corresponding period of last year and amounted to $18.2 mln (16.8%). It should be noted that scientific and technical services more than doubled and amounted to $9.9 mln.
Most of all, services were imported from Germany – $22.9 mln, an increase of almost by 3 times. In second place there is the import of services from Latvia – $6 mln, with an increase by 65.5% compared to the corresponding period. Import from the Great Britain grew by 87.3% and amounted to $5.8 mln, which is the third place.
Foreign trade operations in the service sector were carried out by enterprises of the Dnipropetrovsk region with partners from 124 countries.
