Foreign trade in goods of Dnipropetrovsk region in 2022

Ukrainian enterprises continue to heroically resist the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation, including by resuming production. The destruction of logistics routes, chains of supply of components and finished products, the destruction of enterprises by Russian shelling, significantly affected the regional companies’ trade results with other countries.

The foreign trade turnover of goods in 2022 decreased, compared to the previous period, by 43.3% and amounted to $10.2 billion (10.3% of the total volume of Ukraine). The balance continues to be positive and amounts to $2,302.4 million.

According to the results of 2022, enterprises of Dnipropetrovsk region exported their own products worth $6,250.7 million (14.2% of Ukraine’s exports). Compared to last year, the decrease in exports is 48.6%.

The largest share of exports was ferrous metals and their products, 45.7% ($2,855.7 million), as well as ores, slag, 30.9% ($1,934 million). Although the export of ore and slag decreased by 58.7% compared to last year, the share in Ukraine’s exports remains at the level of more than 60%.

At the same time, there is an increase in export volumes of the following types of products:

  • cotton 702 times ($312.9 thous.);
  • other textile fibers 13 times ($1.2 thous.);
  • seeds and fruits of oil plants 9 times ($129.3 mln);
  • printed products by 2.3 times ($630.8 thous/);
  • organic chemical compounds by 2.2 times ($5.4 mln);
  • aluminum and its products by 2.2 times ($3.1 mln).

The import of goods from the countries of the world to Dnipropetrovsk region in 2022 amounted to $3,948.3 million (7.1% of the volume of Ukrainian imports). Imports decreased by 32.8% compared to the previous period. Mineral products, machinery and equipment, and chemical products remain the most popular among domestic consumers. 

Compared to last year, the volume of imports of the following types of goods increased significantly, namely:

  • watches by 3.4 times ($1.8 mln);
  • vegetables by 2.3 times ($38.5 mln);
  • meat and edible offal by 2.2 times ($3.8 mln);
  • natural and artificial fur by 85% ($14.9 thous.);
  • synthetic or man-made staple fibers by 75% ($14.6 mln).

Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 165 countries.
