Online conference with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Magdeburg

On August 18, 2020, an online conference was held, organized by the Dnepropetrovsk CCI together with the CCI of Magdeburg. The purpose of the event is to establish new business contacts between business representatives of Dnipropetrovsk region and Germany. The event was attended by Alim Molodan, Deputy Director of Dnipropetrovsk Investment Agency (DIA), presenting the current economic and investment situation in the region.

From the region, the conference was attended by 7 enterprises operating in various industries. Among them, companies that provide services in the field of complex welding technologies, export and import electrical products, develop specialized software and metering devices, produce telecommunication metal structures, plumbing from artificial stone using various technologies, including using ground marble, produce natural organic juices, apples export, sewing industry.

On the part of Germany, the conference was attended by a working group of the Magdeburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the development of cooperation with Ukraine and representatives of 17 German enterprises, which were interested in our manufacturers.

Vice-President of the DCCI Serhii Kucheriavenko focused on the current situation in the region and Ukraine as a whole in the context of stabilization and ensuring the full operation of enterprises in conditions of quarantine, sanitary and other restrictions, spoke about new formats of working online with foreign partners and called for more online consultations and acceptable formats of events with the German side.

Presenting the economic potential of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Alim Molodan drew the attention of those present to the indicators of the direct foreign and capital investments volume and the labor market of the region. In addition, it was presented an analysis of the COVID impact on the economic situation in the region, the sectors that showed growth, as well as the level of decline for certain types of products, were indicated. Particular emphasis was placed on the positive dynamics of recovery – the industrial sector in June compared with May this year, showed an increase of 110.4%. The features of the existing trade and economic cooperation of the Dnipropetrovsk region with Germany were also highlighted in detail.

 

“According to the results of trade between the Dnipropetrovsk region and Germany in 2019, the volume of imports exceeds the volume of exports by more than two times. The region imports medicines, electric vehicles, paper and cardboard, plastics and polymers, as well as engineering products, which are leading in terms of volume. For export there are railway locomotives, furniture, precious metals, ferrous metals, etc. It should be noted that the volume of regional imports in the structure of Ukraine’s imports from Germany is 6%. A similar situation exists in the case of exports. More than 130 companies are exporting to Germany. The largest are: DCH (products from ferrous metals), Ukrhimexport (chemical products), Interpipe (production of pipes), etc.”, – said Alim Molodan.

For further effective cooperation with foreign partners, there were presented traditional and interactive tools, which are in the asset of the Dnepropetrovsk Investment Agency and provide comprehensive information about the region at the stage of familiarization with a potential investor. During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the work. The German-Ukrainian Cooperation Bureau provided comprehensive information on the profiles of activities and interests in cooperation of enterprises-members of the DCCI, which will be presented to German companies in the relevant areas of work. The next stage of B2B negotiations between the businesses of our countries is already planned for October of this year.

Therefore, cooperation with Germany continues, work with foreign business representatives continues, the search for foreign partners for our entrepreneurs does not stop.
